The Middle Way Teaching was born from the fusion of two practices, Chinese Zen Buddhism and Indian Tantra. "The discipline began with the teaching of The Sad Guru and he passed this new practice onto his disciple, Sergey Bugaev, who is now the First Patriarch of Middle Way.
The need for such a union arose from the current situation in the West; in which many people living in large metropolises and having societal responsibilities cannot fulfill their spiritual needs through the ascetic requirements of hermitic lifestyle. The new Teaching gives the West enormous possibilities for inner growth. This Tradition is called Sattva-Tettray. Sattva is the Buddhist state of balance and harmony. The second part comes from its Tantric roots, from the Tattrey monastery. In English this Teaching is known as the Middle Way.
